Wind and rain hit just before harvest

A huge wind and rain storm hit Wellington today (Friday). The day went from being very sunny and still to 140 km winds. The winds lasted about 2 hours and then died down. Trees were uprooted and some roofs blown off. By the time the storm hit Martinborough it had dissipated somewhat. Still we don’t like high winds and rain at this time of year. Currently Ian and Alana are in Auckland watching their horse Vosne Romanee run at Ellerslie today.

The Birds are coming – get the nets on!!

The grapes are starting to ripen and all the Pinot is now netted. Yesterday the boys covered the first 8 rows of Sauvignon Blanc with nets. Our harvest is looking great although we believe others in Martinborough were affected by poor flowering. As always just looking forward to the beginning of harvest.
